Our Next Chapter: Joining The We Company

When we started Prolific 10 years ago, we had little more than a pair of computers, a whiteboard, and some tables in a small office overlooking a graveyard. There was no portfolio or reputation to speak of; we survived by taking on odd-job design projects from Craigslist and creating websites for local businesses.

One stepping stone led to another. If we had to attribute how Prolific arrived to where it is today, it would be a continuous hunger for the next challenge, and the confidence to wade into mobile products in 2012, and eventually finding success with that strategy, we began to think about the broader context. We proved we could take on interesting product, design, and engineering challenges, but what were we ultimately doing with these capabilities?

While creating has always had an intrinsic joy to it, it became clear that fulfillment was about purpose and impact. In 2016, we formally set out to define that purpose and to orient our strategy towards it. One of the things we did was crystallize our values in a series of mantras, one of which certainly resonates right now: “Take the path of greatest impact.”

It’s with that mantra in mind that we’ve decided to join The We Company family and extend the possibilities for our impact. We previously partnered with WeWork to design the Made by We app, which gives users the ability to search and reserve a dedicated workspace on a daily and hourly basis. From this partnership, it was clear we shared a similar vision for how technology can be used to foster intelligent environments and connected, consciously-engineered workplace communities to make people happier, and more productive at work.

We have been blessed with an incredible amount of support over the years from partners, advisors, employees, alumni, investors, friends, and family. Thank you for pushing us, trusting us, believing in us, for providing positivity and reassurance, and of course, the fun. We’ll carry your encouragement with us in all of our future endeavors, but especially now as we embark on this new journey. We’ll never forget these people and what they’ve contributed; every little bit has mattered. Last but not least, to our new family at The We Company, thank you for the opportunity to elevate the world’s consciousness.

As always, thank you for the challenge.
